What is Narrative Therapy?
Narrative Therapy is a new and exciting therapeutic terrain. One that does not judge, categorise, classify, prescribe or dictate to humans but a therapeutic paradigm that assumes that humans have skills and competencies that will assist them in reducing the effects of problems in their lives.
Narrative Therapy is defined by a belief system instead of techniques. A Narrative Therapist thus assists a person in re-writing challenges in their life story into a more satisfying story line. One of the philosophies that Narrative Therapy holds is that “the problem is the problem and not the person”.
What is Energy medicine?
Why Energy Medicine? Energy Medicine allows human beings to get out of their heads/minds for a while and make contact with the body. It seems that the symptoms the body presents us with (as well as the specific location in our bodies) could be indicative of the mental-, emotional-, psychological-, spiritual and/or physical challenge that we as human beings are faced with. Body, Breath and Movement The experiences that we have shapes our bodies as we store these experiences in our body tissue. The body character that we develop over time in return is significant of our dominant story.
How do I integrate Narrative Therapy, Energy Medicine, Body, Breath and Movement during a therapeutic experience?
The person that comes to share their story will shape the culture of the session. Some people are comfortable with therapeutic conversation connecting with the “scientific mental body” only. Others busy conversation that also relate to the spiritual bodyA
